Matthew was nicknamed "Peanut" by his mother shortly after birth. How shortly, we're not really sure anymore; within the first few sleep-deprived days is all we remember. Matthew never did go through that period of sleeping all the time that baby books tell you newborns are supposed to have. Since his first abnormally alert days he's just become more and more active, and at some point his uncle Grant conferred upon him the moniker Savage.

Hanging in there
I thought the kids were finally asleep, when I heard cries of "Daddy, help!" from Melissa's room. The cries took on a tinge of desperation as I headed up. When I got to her room, I found a naked three year old hanging to a coat hook in her closet. I lifted her down (only about a foot, but she couldn't tell) and she tearfully explained, "My diaper was wet." Apparently she was trying to get another one -- on a shelf seven feet up -- but finally met a climbing challenge she couldn't summit.

Then we wonder why we are tired all the time! Poor little gal, that was probably pretty scary for her!
