My 2004 Z4 started having problems a year ago when the top stopped opening. Then the radio died. The final straw was when the radio, still dead, started making loud, intermittent popping noises.
These were problems my independent mechanic couldn't help with, and the dealer would have charged more money to fix them than was worth investing in an almost ten year old car.
I looked at Corvettes and test drove a Boxster, but ended up going with a newer Z4. Carmax sold me a six year warranty for $1,600. I'm pretty sure they're going to lose money on that.
